Mundane Monday: Power Tower

Over the long Memorial Day weekend, my husband and I went to find some geocaches on a path that runs along a railroad track. A string of power lines also runs along this path. It was hot and a faint buzzing noise could be heard.

I’ve always found these structures fascinating, creepy, and awesome in the old-fashioned sense of the word. Although there were signs that read, “Danger: Keep Off!” (which I certainly heeded) there was no fence or anything to keep me from walking up close, underneath.

There were several of these towers right near the elementary school I walked to as a child.

I imbued them with personalities: some days they were watchful guardians, some days they were more playful.

I saw this gif on Facebook a few years ago and it reminded me of those towers next to our school. Did they watch us on the playground? Did they wish they could join us?

For the Mundane Monday Challenge #61.

    1. I don’t think you can usually get close to them. When we were kids they definitely wanted us to stay far away from the ones at the school. This one on the trail was unique because you could walk right up to and under it.
