On May 11, 2018, I performed the Telemann viola concerto with the South Bay Philharmonic, a volunteer community orchestra in Silicon Valley.
Back in 2010 I performed the Tchaikovsky “Mozartiana” concertmaster solo with the Arlington Philharmonic, but this was my first solo performance of a concerto. I’ve been blogging about it here and on my sister blog at violinist.com:
108 Days of Telemann
-in which I decide to do the performance this spring when the bassoonist has a conflict
From the Heart
-in which I confront longstanding performance anxiety
Playing Around with Telemann
-in which I consider various ways to play Baroque music in the 21st century
Practice Performances
–in which I perform in church and with the Terrible Adult Chamber Orchestra
Here’s my card
-in which there are publicity materials for the concert with my face on them
Memories of Memorizing
-in which I explain why I decided to perform the piece from memory
World Enough and Time: My Telemann Performance
-in which I describe my thoughts and feelings onstage
