Two weeks ago for Thursday Doors, I showed the doors we installed in our new house when we moved to CA. They had been painted out in the yard and were arranged in a circle, drying. They looked like a monument: Doorhenge.
These doors are now installed in every room of the house, including our kids’ bedrooms. When our kids were little, ages 7 months and 4 years to be exact, we had an au pair from Germany who gave them these letters as gifts, the first letter of each kid’s name, and I put them up on their bedroom doors with sticky putty.
The kids are now teenagers, but when we put up the new doors, we put the letters back. They didn’t object. These friendly little clowns were a reminder of home.
